New National Living Wage rises by 6.6% in April 2022

Every April the rates change for National Living Wage and the National Minimum Wage. Here are the new rates coming into effect from 1 April 2022:
  • The National Living Wage, now for ages 23 and above - £9.50
  • The National Minimum Wage for 21 to 22 year olds - £9.18
  • For 18 to 20 years olds - £6.83
  • For under 18's - £4.81
  • For apprentices - £4.81
Apprentices are entitled to the apprentice rate if they're either:
  • aged under 19
  • aged 19 or over in the first year of their apprenticeship
Apprentices are entitled to the national minimum wage for their age if they both:
  • are aged 19 or over
  • and have completed the first year of their apprenticeship
